Ventnor Community Church Celebrates 100th Anniversary
Ventnor Community Church will kick off its 100e anniversary celebration with a fundraiser for a community barbecue on Sunday, August 14 at 2 S. Victoria Ave. The celebration is open to the public and will include a church service at 10 a.m. and an old-fashioned barbecue with chicken and ribs at 2 p.m.
Funds raised will be used to repair the historic church which was badly damaged in 2012 during Hurricane Sandy. The church was not eligible for any relief funds from Sandy and had been undergoing major repairs for the past 10 years, but much more needs to be done. In addition to repairs, the entire church must become ADA compliant.
The church aims to raise $50,000 for building repairs. Donations can be made to repair this historic community institution on its Go Fund Me page: www.gofundme.com.
The non-denominational Ventnor Community Church, founded on November 22, 1922, relies on donations to continue its longstanding mission of community leadership and spiritual guidance in Christian worship within its historic walls.
Ventnor Community Church is affiliated with Waters Edge of South Jersey, led by Pastor Dean Bult, which serves as a “church for non-believers”. Waters Edge’s mission is to lead people who wish to practice spiritually but do not fully identify with the Christian faith, into a growing relationship with Jesus Christ.
