Thanksgiving Community Service Celebrates “Living With Gratitude” – Redlands Daily Facts

Thanksgiving past will be remembered in November as the Redlands Area Interfaith Council hosts its annual Thanksgiving Service, open to everyone in the community.

The “Live With Gratitude” service is scheduled to begin at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 21 at First Presbyterian Church, 100 Cajon St.

Guest speaker Nathan Gonzales, chief archivist at AK Smiley Public Library, will offer a unique look at the city in his “Redlands in Thanksgiving Past,” according to a press release from the RAIC.

University of Redlands chapel singers, led by Nicholle Andrews, will perform, as will a youth choir from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Prayers and various religious texts from the religious community of Redlands will be shared by Assembly Member James Ramos, former President of the Indian Band of the San Manuel Mission; Bishop Jackie Green of the Second Baptist Church; Gregory Art of the B’hai Faith; Asif Hafizurahman from the Islamic tradition; an original poem entitled “Just This” by Nancy Sidhu, member of the Emanu El Congregation; and Kevin Kakazu, pastor of the Mission Road Seventh-day Adventist Church.

The event is free, but donations are welcome and will support Women of Faith, a local organization that brings together members of various religious traditions in service to the community.

A pie reception will be held in the church yard after the program. Face masks are compulsory.
