Sioux Falls Pizza Ranch Recognized for Community Service

SIOUX FALLS, SD (KELO) — A restaurant in Sioux Falls is recognized for its impact in the community. Earlier this month, the Pizza Ranch on 41st Street received the Community Service Award from the South Dakota Retailers Association.

All City Elementary students spent last night volunteering at the Pizza Ranch.

It’s all part of the restaurant’s weekly community impact nights, which take place every Monday and Wednesday night.

“It’s just a chance for bands to come and help us grab tables and trade for their 5-8 work, we give them 10% of our in-store sales and then they also take out tip jars, they can keep 100% of their tips,” said 41st Street Pizza Ranch co-owner Michael Pharis.

Last year, more than 100 organizations, including church groups and sports teams, benefited from Community Impact Night.

“They can talk to certain people in their community, kind of tell them why they’re fundraising or what sports team they’re with, things like that,” Pharis said.

The dollars raised at this event will have a big impact on All City Elementary and its students.

“The money goes to my school,” said Eleanor Durr, a 5th grade student. “For our travels and all that.”

“Everything for the whole town, like art, that type of stuff is fully collected, we have a play in March that we’re doing, and all that money also needs to be collected to be able to do that, where we get 10% , we I think we did it in October and we raised $1,000, which is huge,” said Karina Dachtler, fundraising coordinator at All City Elementary, parent.

It’s something that Pharis says is a win-win for everyone.

“We’ve been open here for over 13 years and have always had strong sales here, so just a way for us to give back to the community, to be part of the community that has always given back to us too,” Pharis said.

Pharis says the fundraising events are also popular at other Pizza Ranch restaurants, not just at the 41st Street location. If you are an organization interested in a fundraising evening, simply call the restaurant to arrange a date.
