Pasay City public school teachers and parents set up a community pantry

Inspired by the community pantries that have sprouted across the country, teachers and parents at Padre Zamora Elementary School in Pasay City have also set up their own community pantry to provide nutritious food to students in the area. kindergarten and first grade.

Mayor Emi Calxto-Rubiano said the General Parents and Teachers Association (GPTA) was inspired to establish a community pantry in the school to show the ‘Bayanihan spirit’ that Filipinos have manifested during the pandemic .

Rubiano said the GPTA has solicited donations through the school’s faculty members, Supreme Student Government, Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts of the Philippines at the school, to enable him to help families kindergarten and first grade students who have been severely affected by the pandemic.

The mayor said the group donates rice, vegetables, eggs, fruit, soap, milk and cookies to parents or guardians of the students.

To ensure order in the pantry and compliance with strict health protocols, police and other law enforcement officers were deployed to the school.
