The Lower Colorado River Authority is offering grants of up to $50,000 for community projects throughout its wholesale power, water and transmission service territory, according to an LCRA press release.

Applications for the new round of Community Development Partnerships Program grants will be available online in January and must be submitted by midnight January 31. Most grants are $25,000 or less, but each cycle includes multiple grants of up to $50,000.

Eligible organizations include volunteer firefighters, emergency responders, local governments, schools, libraries, civic groups, museums, and other tax-exempt nonprofit organizations. Grants are not available to individuals, for-profit entities, professional associations, social service projects, or limited-use facilities.

Applicants requesting more than $5,000 in grants must provide matching funds of at least 20% of the total project cost. Projects must benefit or be available to an entire community and also enhance the value of a capital asset through the construction, renovation or purchase of equipment.

Organizations in multiple counties, including Blanco, Burnet, Lampasas, and Llano counties, are eligible for grants.

In the latest round of grants in late 2021, the LCRA awarded more than $730,000 to fund 32 projects, including purchasing new vehicles and equipment for first responders and renovating museums, libraries and community centers.

Grant applications and details on eligibility requirements are available on the LCRA website. For more information, email [email protected] or call 800-776-5272 ext. 3140 or ext. 1627.
