John, Marsh named to 2022 SEC Athletics Community Service Team
BIRMINGHAM, Alabama — The Southeastern Conference recently announced the community service team for men’s and women’s track and field and cross country and included Georgia Wesley John and Titiana Swamp.
The conference appoints a community service team for each of its 21 league-sponsored sports, seeking to showcase an athlete from each school who gives back to their community through superior service efforts.
Wesley John will host a race camp in Oconee County this summer for grades 5-12, giving back to the Oconee County Parks and Recreation Department that instilled their love for racing. He served as a youth group leader at Cornerstone Church in Athens and is co-chair of SAAC, helping lead the professional development sub-committee communicating opportunities to other student-athletes. John is also on the SAAC Community Service Sub-Committee.
Titiana Swamp is a member of the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) Committee. She wrote letters of thanks to healthcare workers during the pandemic. Marsh also volunteers for litter cleanup through the Phi Beta Sigma fraternity and helped make a video book for pre-K students. In addition, she provided supplies to the Athens area homeless shelter.
Marsh will join his other qualified teammates to compete at the NCAA Outdoor Championships in Eugene, Oregon, beginning Wednesday.
