Herkimer County Selected for $500,000 Community Development Block Grant from the State

Herkimer County, NY – On June 23, 2022, Herkimer County was notified by the Housing Trust Fund Corporation (HTFC) and the Office of Community Renewal (OCR) that the submitted application for the Housing Trust Fund Corporation’s Community Development Block Grant New York State (CDBG) Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act (CARES) Half Million Dollar Funds Awarded! The county received this grant and, in conjunction with the Herkimer County IDA, the grant will be administered.

The purpose of the CARES grant is to help businesses in Herkimer County fund a series of activities to prevent the spread of the virus, respond to the impacts of the virus, reopen safely, and prepare businesses for new safety protocols. . “I think this is a great opportunity for businesses in the region to respond to the pandemic in a positive way, especially with the number of negative impacts that COVID-19 has had in recent years,” explains the coordinator of the administration and grants to IDA. , Victoria Adams.

Applicants can apply for funding of $25,000 to $100,000 to help with past or current COVID-related expenses. Projects selected for the award will aid in the recovery of communities across New York State by improving the resilience of businesses and public facilities serving its residents.
