Georgina Cid to be Dunnellon’s new Community Development Officer
DUNNELLON – Less than a week after Dunnellon city officials spoke with Georgina Cid via Zoom about his integration as community development manager, they formalized it.
At Monday’s meeting, held at town hall, city council members voted 5-0 to hire Cid. It fills the void left vacant since the beginning of the year.
The salary range is $ 49,604 to $ 74,405. Although no start date has been announced, city officials directed staff to a workshop held last week to begin the pre-employment screening of the Cid. This includes a background review.
Also at the meeting, city officials talked about a future home for the police department. One of the plans is to buy two adjoining plots not far from the current police building. City council members were told that $ 365,000 projected for the police department could be used to purchase the property.
The municipal authorities are studying the possibility of having a modular building built on the property. The money raised for this project, if the municipal authorities decide to go this route, would come from the sale of the Soul’s Harbor Church.
The church is currently owned by the city, which recently put the property up for sale. Additional income for the project could also come from the sale of the Dunnellon Police Department building.
More details are expected at a workshop scheduled for next month.
