Eden Community Pantry will be hosting a special Christmas program on Thursday, December 23, offering lunch to 50 people who may not have loved ones nearby this holiday season.
Eden Community Pantry team leader Pam Skelton said lunch is now full and mostly held for previous customers regular Monday lunches, which have been put on hold due to COVID.
âWe plan to make this a special occasion for those who may have missed the community connection lately,â Pam said.
âIt will be kind of a reunion and a celebration, not only of Christmas but also in the hope that 2022 will be a better year and that we can once again resume our regular lunches together.
âWe have received such generous support from the community this year. This lunch had the very kind support of Chef Danielle Collins and is also sponsored by Social Justice Advocates from the Sapphire Coast and John Palasty from Core Asset Development.
âI want to especially thank our group of loyal volunteers who have given so much throughout 2021,â said Pam.
The event will be held at the Eden Uniting Church Hall on Chandos Street and can only accommodate 50 guests due to COVID constraints.
The last pantry day for 2021 is this Thursday, December 16 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
