County manager appoints April Furth as director of community development

April Furth will serve as director of the Clark County Community Development Department after being named to the position by County Executive Kathleen Otto.

She started in her new role on November 16, according to a press release.

Prior to his appointment, Furth was hired in February to head the permit center for the community development department. She has more than 17 years of retail management experience and has also served as regional merchandising manager, store manager and vice president, the statement said.

Furth’s work at the permit center has resulted in reduced permit receipt times and improved overall customer service.

“April has been instrumental in working with her team, external partners and the general public to develop respectful and productive working relationships and streamlined services,” Otto said. “His commitment to the Clark County team not only provided an opportunity for collaboration; he fostered an environment focused on customer service.

Furth said she is thrilled to be the director and hopes to make a difference on a larger scale.

“Since I started working at the county, I have worked with staff to evaluate and improve Clark County Permit Center processes by creating small wins and building momentum for success for a highly skilled team over the long haul. term,” Furth said in the statement. .

The Community Development Department provides services to several divisions, including construction, development engineering, land use, animal control, and the office of the fire marshal.
