This week’s sermon is titled “No More Babbling.” The focus will be on Acts 2:1-21.

The Presbyterian Church of Crete, 25 Brady Road, Indiana, will meet for communion worship at 11 a.m. on Pentecost Sunday with the Reverend Katie Ward Stear.

The scriptures are Isaiah 40:27-31 and Acts 2, and the sermon is titled “Wings of the Spirit.”

Crete will recognize Eagle Scout Jonathan Paul. As part of his Eagle Scout project, he built an outdoor bench and supervised the scouts in the renovation of the church rose garden.

Crete will dedicate the bench to the memory of Marie Bahn. Marie served the Church of Crete for 23 years as an elder, 22 years as a session clerk and took an active part in the presbytery of the church. She taught Sunday school and was active in the choir and missionary. Bahn made many mission trips to Haiti and southern West Virginia. She has dedicated many hours as a leader or volunteer with St. Andrew’s Village, CareNet, the ICCAP Church Crisis Committee and Four Footed Friends.

A retired special education teacher from the IUP, she encouraged ball players in the Miracle League.

There will be light refreshments after worship. Everyone is welcome.

HOMER CITY — The United Methodist Church in Homer City will hold an 8:15 a.m. adult Sunday school and a 9:30 a.m. worship service on Sunday.

This week’s sermon, “The Spirit Is the Breath We Breathe,” is based on Romans 8:14-17.

There will be a “Let Your Light Shine” children’s ministry at 9:30 a.m.

The “Five Smooth Stones” series continues with Pastor Bill Blair’s message, “Victory in the Face of Ridicule”, with the scripture of 1 Samuel 17:12-28.

The Agape Bells will ring in the traditional 9 a.m. service and will be accompanied by Aiden Glaser and Shanda Tomer, percussion. They will also accompany the Chancel Choir’s anthem “Upon This Rock”.

Worship music for the 11 a.m. contemporary service will be led by Jonathan Gibbons and Pastor Will Pinos. The set list is “Glorious Day”, “The Father’s House”, “See a Victory” and “The Blessing”.

Pastor Blair’s sermon series, “Five Smooth Stones,” is based on David and Goliath: June 12, “All You Need”; and June 19, “Our Response to Victory.” On June 26, Pastor Blair will begin a new series, “Wait! Is it really in the Bible?

The community is invited to join Grace Church for a special prayer service for Ukraine at 7 p.m. Sunday at the sanctuary. An offering will be collected for the benefit of Ukrainian refugees. The service will be led by Pastor Bill Blair and Father Ihor Protsak of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church will be the guest speaker.

MARION CENTER — Marion Center First United Methodist Church will hold a 9:30 a.m. service on Pentecost Sunday. Don’t forget to wear red.

Pastor Erica will deliver a message titled “Come Holy Spirit”. The scripture is Acts 2:1-21.

Calvary Bible Church will have Vacation Bible School for all ages Sunday through Friday, June 10, 6-8 p.m.

The theme is “Back on track”. A large exhibition of model trains will be available each evening. In addition, a 1978 model Lancia Stratus race car will be offered as a prize on one night of the week. Evangelist David Barker will give Bible messages each evening.

ERNEST – Ernest Bible Church, 70 Church Road, will hold a daily Holiday Bible School from 6-8 p.m. Monday-Friday, June 6-10. The final program will take place at 7 p.m. on Friday, June 10.

The theme is “Zoomerang: Return to the Value of Life” (program of “Answers in Genesis”.

The event is aimed at children and teenagers from 3 to 12 years old.

INDIANA — Calvary Presbyterian Church, 695 School St., will offer a Vacation Bible School from 9 a.m. to noon June 13-17.

The theme is “Food Truck Party – On a Roll with God” and is aimed at children ages 4-6.

This Vacation Bible School invites children to pray as Jesus teaches us in Matthew 6:11; “Give us this day our daily bread.” These words remind us that everything we have comes from God—and that it is by turning to God in prayer that all of our daily needs are met. At the center of the food truck party is a special food truck called “On a Roll”.

Here, kids (or ‘chefs’) will learn from the food truck’s Top Chef, featuring DJ Skillet (an adorable cupcake puppet), about the daily specials (daily learnings), which are lines of the beloved prayer that teaches us to turn to God to meet our needs. A complimentary breakfast is served daily. The PA BBQ food truck will arrive on June 17. VINTONDALE — Blacklick Community United Methodist Church, 1453 Bracken Road, will be hosting a “Making Waves”-themed Vacation Bible School, from 5:30-8 p.m. June 13-17.

First Church of God, 541 Lutz School Road, White Township, will be holding VBS “Lava Lava Luau” from 10 a.m. to noon daily June 20-22 for children ages 4-4.

There will be exciting Bible lessons on managing our emotions, object lessons and interesting experiments, crafts – each child will make a beautiful wooden cutting board (under adult supervision) and fun leisure games.
