Chinese Embassy Holds Week-long Community Campaign in Tondo, Manila
The beginning of December brings the Embassy to its 3rd week of Community Food Pantry activities at Barangay 82, Tondo, Manila. Care packages prepared for the week-long Community Pantry campaign, December 1-5, 2021, include food and medical supplies that will enable many families in the Barangay to meet their daily needs, especially at home. the holidays are approaching.
Chinese Embassy Counselor Xie Yonghui expressed in his remarks how China and the Philippines continuously help each other in the spirit of Bayanihan and sent his best wishes to residents in this Christmas season.
“China and the Philippines are close neighbors with more than a thousand years of friendly exchange. Our exchanges are as frequent as those between relatives… We rejoice together in good times and help each other in difficult times, thus forging a stronger sense of being a community with a shared future,” Xie said.
“Facing the invisible enemy COVID-19, China and the Philippines have also timely supported each other in the name of friendship, humanity and the spirit of Bayanihan,” he said. he adds.
Barangay 82 Captain Chairman Alex Espinosa expressed his gratitude to the Chinese Embassy and companies for selecting their residents as beneficiaries. He also said the medical and food parcels will not only be a supply of basic necessities for many, but also a gift that will make family holidays in December even more joyful.
Together with the Chinese Embassy, several Chinese companies and organizations have joined in to give back to the community, including the Chinese Enterprise Philippines Association Inc. (CEPA), China State Construction Engrg. Corp. Ltd, China Road and Bridge Philippines, PowerChina Philippines, ZTE Philippines Inc., Bank of China (Hongkong) Limited, Haier and Bayanihao. Vice President of CEPA and General Manager of China Road and Bridge Philippines, Ren Xiaopeng, expressed his joy to be part of the graduation ceremony which gives back to people and showcases the additional commitment of the corporate social responsibility. ZTE Philippines Inc. CEO Wan Min also expressed his thanks for the opportunity to reach out to Filipino people and intends to continue the good works in other areas in the future.
The Chinese Embassy hopes to see the full success of the Community Pantry Drive running through December 5, with day one sales and distribution kick-starting a week-long activity full of generosity and cheer. As the Christmas and New Year season is fast approaching, the Chinese Embassy looks forward to community activities in the coming days, hand in hand with the Filipino people.
