Anniversary Celebrations at GC Community Church
The Garden City Community Church (GCCC) observes the sanctity of the Lenten season with Bible studies, musical choral meditation, Lenten retreat, yoga meditation, Lenten show, worship and prayer services. In our time together as the community of God, we do not fail to celebrate the moments that mark the passage of time, especially birthdays. April 3rd, GCCC celebrated the birthday of Reverend Lynn Sullivan, the senior pastor, with cakes and other treats. But Reverend Lynn’s birthday celebration also coincided with the commemoration of homeless children and their families.
GCCC held a service event called Birthday in a Box to benefit the Birthday Wishes organization. Birthday Wishes brings the joy of a birthday party into the lives of homeless children and their families. Each packed box was filled with everything needed to celebrate a birthday: plates and napkins, baking supplies and birthday decorations. The event was a great success and we were able to fill 16 boxes for the organization. The adults wrapped the boxes in festive birthday wrapping paper, while the children filled the boxes with the requested items. What a perfect birthday party to share the moment with church families to make another child’s birthday as perfect as Reverend Lynn’s birthday party.
This week, GCCC continues the observance of Lent by preparing us for Holy Week. Church members spend time in prayer, fasting and giving which can make Jesus’ sacrifice on Good Friday and his resurrection on Easter even more meaningful. All are invited to participate in the life of our church at the following times:
